Charm Thai’s annual Grape Decision event returns by popular demand

Calling all food and wine lovers: After a hugely successful launch last year, Charm Thai, the popular Thai restaurant at Crowne Plaza Dubai Marina, will host a limited-seat, one-night-only Grape Decision Season 2 event , 18th of June.

Well-known for its contemporary dishes that seamlessly fuse traditional ingredients, delicate flavors and complex tastes associated with Thai cuisine, Grape Decision Season 2 will see Charm Thai’s food taken even higher, with a five-course tasting menu accompanied by a sommelier-approved selection of quirky and intriguing paired wines.

Whether diners are seasoned wine connoisseurs or just enjoying the occasional drink, the feast for two on the 18e promises a real treat for the taste buds, starting with a glass of bubbles.

The perfect aperitif, Alberto Nani Organic Prosecco is a stunning bubbly with a floral bouquet and a mineral, fruity finish that will not only tantalize the taste buds, but provide the perfect prelude to the dishes that follow.

For their entrée, diners will enjoy the aromatic Yum Ma-Muang Goong (Green Mango Salad), Charm Thai’s gourmet take on the classic Nam Tok Nua (Thai Beef Salad) followed by poached scallops with a tangy plah sauce, while sipping an elegant, well-balanced organic Sauvignon Blanc from renowned Italian winemaker Livio Felluga.

Moving on to hot starters, the second course features tender stuffed calamari with Thai seafood dressing, succulent lamb chops in Thai barbecue sauce or chicken balls with homemade sweet and sour sauce. Australian wine brand of the moment 19 Crimes, the full-bodied, toasty and oaky Chardonnay Hard Chard, was selected as the perfect accompaniment to these dishes, being assertive enough to bring out their bold and bright flavors, without overpowering them.

As the evening progresses, a truly exceptional wine – and one that will be new to many – gets a chance to shine: the exclusive and award-winning JCV Ramato Pinot Grigio. This natural orange wine from the Casablanca Valley in Chile is made using the traditional ramato method, with the pinot grigio grapes, juice and skins left to blend to produce a beverage with a distinctive look and taste. . Blood orange in color, with a light and lively taste with lingering notes of pomegranate and pear, this wine is a real revelation and goes particularly well with a bowl of creamy Khao Soi Pou Alaska from Charm Thai (curry noodle soup from coconut and king crab).

With the richness of the dishes deliberately increased for the main course, dishes served include Thai red curry with melt-in-your-mouth roast duck, succulent lobster sautéed in homemade chili sauce, and herb-scented lamb chops with wok – stir-fried noodles, two exceptional wines have been chosen as an accompaniment. Once again, Snoop Dogg has more than delivered 19 Crimes with “The Deported,” a red wine infused with freshly roasted coffee and made with a full palette of red currants, juicy dark cherries and chocolate. A glass of Golan Heights Winery’s smooth Cabernet Sauvignon Yarden – Israel’s most awarded wine – meanwhile brings seductive, earthy aromas of spice, herbs, ripe plums and French oak.

A traditional Thai sweet sticky rice dessert with fresh mango coconut ice cream is even more delicious when enjoyed with a glass of fragrant and well-balanced pale rose and peach Frescobaldi Ammiraglia Alie Rose and will provide a fitting end to a truly memorable evening. .
