The Emirates Culinary Guild would like to announce the success of the 25th Emirates Culinary Show (ESC) 2022 from 30 May to 2 June 2022. This year the Show was back in its entirety, an all-in-person event, for organizers and judges . . Held during the Expoculinaire 2022 and the 39th Worldchefs Congress 2022, Purple Kitchen Events being once again the organizer of the exhibition.
To help with the proceedings, the ECG has invited an international team of judges who have been with the guild for many years, a team led by our old friend Otto Weibel who has now been chief judge at 24 of our 25 competitions, as well as former ECG President Mike Lee and former Vice President Heinz Zuchelli as well as Guild President Uwe Micheel and Culinary Advisor Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Deira Creek and the entire committee of the ECG’s were all there to back them up.
The competition was held at the Abu Dhabi ADNEC National Exhibition Center alongside the Expoculiniare Exhibition and the WorldChefs Congress, making it an event with multiple activities taking place simultaneously over the 4 days. The venue was then digitally enhanced with a full live broadcast set up by Sunjeh Raja and the ICCA School Dubai team who broadcast the event worldwide. The competition saw over 500 chefs with 500 entries from the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, compete in 33 classes across all disciplines of Culinary Arts, Practical Cooking, Static Displays, Emirati Cuisine, Cake Decorating and Show Piece categories.
All 16 international judges from around the world came to judge alongside our UAE-based judges at this year’s cooking show. The ESC is one of the largest culinary competitions in Africa and the Middle East, also endorsed by the World Association of Chef Societies.
“The standard was once again extremely high this year, even in these difficult times,” said Guild President Uwe Micheel and Culinary Advisor at Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Deira Creek, said “we are proud to have been able to organize the event again”. and we are grateful to the guild supporters and the courage of the chefs and the industry for their support and presence during the 4 days and the awards ceremony of the Culinary Expo 2022. The competition was bigger than us could have hoped for and we are excited for 2023 already added Michel.

The winners of the trophies this year come from the hotel and industrial catering industry and are:
A total of 7 Gold Medals with Distinction were awarded which is a fantastic result showing such high standards, 78 Gold Medals, 101 Silver Medals and 131 Bronze Medals were awarded during the 4 day event.
The Emirates Salon Culinaire is the largest culinary competition on the guild calendar. In 2022, the guild also hosted the biannual Worldchefs Congress www.worldchefscongress.org from May 30 to June 2, 2022 in Abu Dhabi and the Global Chefs Competition and Africa Cup. Contest offered by Sunny.
